We are experienced in undertaking social impact
assessments – aiming to protect and improve the welfare and
livelihoods of local populations
Around the world Mott MacDonald offers social development
services as an integral component of our multi-disciplinary
consultancy work. These services are tailored to specific
infrastructure projects, countries and customers.
Promoting the principle of sustainable development is one of our
core values. Social development is an essential component of
sustainable development and a process that results in the
transformation of social structures in a manner which improves the
capacity of society to fulfil its aspirations.
We work with our customers and local communities to protect and,
where possible, promote processes of social development in pursuit
of sustainable infrastructure projects.
We provide consultancy services for the social and institutional
dimensions of development in a diverse range of areas,
including:
- capacity building
- rights-based approaches
- participatory techniques
As a member of the Cambridge Development Support Group (CDSG), our
activities are supported by experts in social development and
political economy, environmental legislation, health and
sustainable development. We work with national governments and
international clients, such as the Department for International
Development (DFID) and all of the other major funding agencies.
Recent projects include case studies from Ghana, Uganda and India
to achieve more effective incorporation of gender equality in the
education sector using sector-wide approaches (SWAPs) and
sustainable livelihoods training in Moldova.
We also provide specialist education and training services within
the UK and overseas. Our significant in-house expertise ensures
equity issues are properly addressed in all aspects of our work.
