Mott MacDonald has launched a new charitable
initiative to help realise urgently needed projects. To start, we
are supporting the reconstruction of a secondary school in Titkata,
Bangladesh, which will double as a cyclone shelter for 300
people
Mott MacDonald is committed to the global sustainability
agenda. Working across all sectors covered by sustainability –
buildings, water and environment, energy, education and health,
transport and industry – we aim to influence development
programmes, promote sustainable thinking and help improve the
well-being of communities.
We aim to follow the definition of sustainability as laid down in
the Brundtland report:
"Our approach is based on delivering value for our
clients through applying principles of sustainable business in our
projects. We aim to create shared value for all.” Keith Howells,
Mott MacDonald Chairman and Group Board Director responsible for
sustainability.
“Meeting the needs of the present without compromising
the ability of future generations to meet their own
needs.”
We also want to achieve a beneficial impact on people's lives
through the projects we help deliver. As a result, we also seek to
ensure that our solutions are implemented and managed in a manner
that will not adversely impact on the natural environment.
We place great emphasis on this in our
corporate values, which form the
basis of how we run our worldwide operation, and bring together our
global family. Moreover, we believe that organisations’ committed
to sustainable development should be active in promoting the
following five key themes:
- intergenerational equity
- protection, preservation and improvement of the
environment
- continued economic growth
- societal progress
- global inclusiveness
We're commited to working in partnership with our customers,
communities and supply chains to incorporate sustainable design,
implementation and operation solutions into their projects and
day-to-day operations - whether it's providing access to
cutting-edge renewable energy technologies or delivering training
programmes for healthcare managers. Supporting our approach to
corporate respsonsibility, our designs, advice, skills and
expertise incorporate sustainable thinking from the outset and we
seek solutions that are creative, practical, efficient and have a
reduced impact on the environment.
Our accountability
A sustainable business is dependent on committed employees, and at
Mott MacDonald this starts from the top with our Board directors,
and travels down to project managers and all our operational staff.
“As responsible corporate citizens, employers, and consultants, we
are committed to delivering sustainability in all that we do. We
have an important role to play in contributing to the sustainable
development of the communities where we work, while considering the
global economy and the environment. Our approach is based on
delivering value for our clients through applying principles of
sustainable business in our projects. We aim to create shared value
for all.” Keith Howells, Mott MacDonald Chairman and Group Board
Director responsible for sustainability.
Seeing that our sustainability policy is fully implemented is the
responsibility of Group Sustainability Champion, Davide Stronati.
Davide will also be responsible for further integrating the key
aspects of sustainable development into our projects, our
operational practices and our culture.
